On March 1st, Pastor Larry offered a message from John 3:1-17. This is the story of Nicodemus as he had an encounter with Jesus at night. Nicodemus wanted to have some time alone with Jesus to learn from him. The message challenged us on how we can live life in the way of Jesus. Mark Blankenship led the choir in music.

This conference was held on February 28th. The keynote speaker was Rev. Ben Campbell, founder of Richmond Hill and longtime advocate of civil rights. There were 84 attendees from a number of churches in the Richmond area and throughout Virginia. Breakout workshops were led by Rev. Tom Baynam (Spiritual Formation as Resistance), Rev. Lan Wilson (Conversations as Resistance) and Rev. Jim Melson (Non-violent direct action as Resistance). Rev. Tom Baynum served as worship leader.

On this first Sunday of Lent, Pastor Larry offered a message based on Matthew 4:1-11. This is the story of the temptation of Jesus. The message offered ways that we can overcome the temptations that we face in live. Mark Blankenship led the choir in music. Brendan Paget served as worship leader. On February 15th, Rev. Dr. Gwen Andrews offered a message based on Matthew 17:1-9. This passage is the story of the transfiguration of Jesus. Rev. Andrews offered words to us on how this story applies to our lives today. Marie Coone served as worship leader and Mark Blankenship led the choir in music.

On February 8th, Pastor Larry offered a message on how we as followers of Jesus are to be salt and light to the world that is before us. The message was taken from Matthew 5:13-20.

Rev. Dr. Gwen Andrews offered the message on February 1st based on Matthew 5:1-9. The message focused on the Beatitudes and how we are to live out lives following the way of Jesus. This was the second Sunday we worshiped online instead of in person due to dangerous snow and ice conditions.

On this snowy day, we elected to not have church in person. The message was offered by Rev. Larry Cochran from home with MaryKaye Cochran offering a solo. The story of Jesus inviting the disciples to follow him formed the basis for the message. What does following Jesus mean in our lives today?

On January 18th, Rev. Jim Melson offered the message taken from John 1:29-42. The message focused on how Andrew had spent a good part of a day with Jesus and then brought his brother Peter to meet Jesus. The encouragement for us was to stay with Jesus through all that we are called to do as we live out our faith. Mark Blankenship led the choir in music.

Rev. Dr. Gwen Andrews offered the message on January 11 from Matthew 3:13-17. During this service, we remembered our baptism and what that means as we live out our faith. Marie Coone served as worship leader and Mark Blankenship led the choir in music.

On this first Sunday in January, we celebrated the Wesley Covenant Service. This service challenged us all to live out our faith in the coming year. Pastor Larry offered a message taken from Isaiah 60:1-6. The service can be seen here and on our Facebook live site.
