On December 21st, Rev. Gwen Andrews offered the message from Matthew 1:18-28. This is the story of how an angel spoke to Joseph in a dream that he should take Mary as his wife even though he was at a loss to know what to do. The story of Joseph speaks to us and reminds us that our plans may not work out but God has something better in store for us.
On December 14th, Pastor Larry preached on Matthew 11:2-11. This depicts John the Baptist from prison sending his disciples to ask Jesus if he was the Messiah. Jesus said look around, the blind see, the lame walk, the deaf hear, the dead are raised and good news is being proclaimed to the poor. John had doubts as we all do but when we look around and see what God is doing, we can overcome those doubts.
On December 7th, we unpacked the message given to us from John the Baptist found in Matthew 3:1-12. John challenges us to prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus, to make a way in the midst of all that is happening in our lives. Brendan Paget served as worship leader on this day. Pastor Larry Cochran offered the message on this day. Mark Blankenship leads us in music.
On November 30th, we gathered together to worship and hear a message from Rev. Dr. Gwen Andrews. This was the first Sunday in Advent, a time where we prepare our hearts for the celebration of the birth of Jesus and for the second coming of Jesus. The message came from Matthew 24:36-44. This message reminds us always to be ready, to be prepared as we live our our faith every day.
On this Sunday, Pastor Larry Cochran offered the message from 2 Corinthians 9:6-11. The message focused on the joy of giving as God loves a cheerful giver.
Rev. Dr. Gwen Andrews offered the message based on Acts 2:42-47. The early church offered us a blueprint of what church should look like as a people who devoted themselves to the apostle’s teaching, prayer, sharing meals together and sharing what they had with eachother. In the church today, we are called together to the vows of prayer, presence, gifts and service.
Rev. Jim Melson offered the message based on Luke 20. This passage focuses on the resurrection and what that means in our lives as followers of Christ. The service can be seen here and on our Facebook live site.
Rev. Jeff Mickle offered the message for our homecoming service, the celebration of Belmont’s 70th anniversary. Jeff spoke to us about the story of “The Good Samaritan” found in Luke 10:25-37. The message challenged all of us to “Do Love”. Love is action and the call for us is to live into this by bringing healing and transformation to others. Mark Blankenship led the choir in music. MaryKaye Cochran offered a solo for us. The service can be seen here…
Come join us as we celebrate 70 years of ministry on October 12th at 11:00 AM. Rev. Jeff Mickle will be preaching. Jeff served at Belmont for many years and was instrumental in leading the church into the future with the food pantry, the diversity of the congregation and our racial reconcilation work. A great meal will follow the service.
